The Local didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a daydream.

On a steam train to nowhere, we (Tommy & Brittany) found ourselves talking about the things we love most: food, culture, and community. The conversation kept circling back to the same thought: the UK is overflowing with incredible makers—craft brewers, cheesemongers, chocolatiers, artists—but so much of their work never leaves their hometowns.

We thought: what if gifting could change that?

That was the spark for The Local.
