Valentines Day Surprises

Great items and wonderful presentation. Sent early to avoid disappointment. The team were super accommodating when an extra order of hot sauce was added to avoid a delay. We loved all the products.

Biscuits & Customer service excellent

These biscuits were delicious and packaged beautifully. Customer service was also excellent, I had a slight problem with delivery dates but Brittany sorted it immediately and made sure we had our biscuits on time for Burns Night. Would definitely recommend, thank again!

Give a gift they'll actually want

Excellent gifting service - highly recommend. For people who are looking for a high quality, curated hamper rather than something full of mass-produced chutneys that will gather dust at the back of your cupboard. The handwritten note adds to the personal touch, and the free delivery was very efficient. Don't give your money to The Man, support The Local!

An Amazing Gift

We were given a hamper from The Local as a present after having a baby and I can honestly tell you it was the best thing.

Incredibly luxurious and full of things that you won't find anywhere else, plus it was delivered in less than 24 hours.

I never normally write reviews, but I love this business and I love this concept and will be a long time customer so thought I would make an exception and show my support.

Best Hampers

Best. Hampers. Ever! Seriously, I couldn't recommend these more. I bought two beautiful Christmas hampers for family and they absolutely loved them. All the produce is top quality and I've gone on to buy the coffee and wine for myself. So nice to support a growing local business too 🙏 Thanks for a great service.

The produce from their hamper was…

The produce from their hamper was incredible. Very high quality produce, delivered on time and packaged beautifully. This was a perfect gift from one of our business partners. We especially enjoyed the local sparkling wine and my wife is in love with the quality of the coffee. If I could give 6 stars, I would! Will be contacting The Local in the new year for some gift ideas for our suppliers.

Why we love Ripe Cider

Ripe Cider shows how good sustainability can taste.

Cameron and Georgie farm chemical-free orchards, graze their Shropshire sheep beneath the trees, and make cider with minimal intervention.

This is cider that doesn’t just taste good — it does good.

The Local is a curated platform for discovering Britain's best independent makers. We carefully select exceptional businesses from across the UK and help people discover products with a story—whether you're buying a thoughtful gift, shopping for yourself or simply looking to support independent brands.

Unlike an open marketplace, every maker is personally reviewed before being featured. Our mission is simple: to become Britain's most trusted place to discover independent makers.

Etsy is an open marketplace where anyone can create a shop.

The Local is editorially curated. Every maker is reviewed before being featured, and we focus on championing exceptional independent British businesses rather than listing thousands of products.

We believe trust comes from careful curation, not endless choice.

Not On The High Street is a large online marketplace featuring thousands of sellers and products.

The Local takes a more selective approach. We carefully curate a smaller collection of independent British makers whose products, craftsmanship and stories genuinely stand out.

Rather than helping you browse more, we're here to help you discover better.

Every maker is reviewed against our editorial standards before joining The Local.

We look for independent businesses creating exceptional products with a genuine connection to Britain, original ideas and a story worth telling. We're interested in the people behind the products as much as the products themselves.

You can read more about our selection process on our Our Standards page.

The Local isn't an open marketplace where anyone can list products.

We're a curated discovery platform. Every maker is personally selected because we believe they're genuinely worth discovering, allowing us to focus on quality, storytelling and trust rather than sheer volume.

Every maker featured on The Local has a meaningful connection to Britain.

Many products are designed, grown, crafted, roasted, distilled or manufactured here. Others responsibly source ingredients from around the world while remaining proudly British businesses.

Rather than applying one rigid rule to every category, we assess each maker individually against our editorial standards.

Curated gift boxes are where many people first discover The Local, but they're only part of what we do.

Our ambition is much bigger: to become Britain's trusted destination for discovering independent makers, their products and the stories behind them.

Whether you're buying a gift or finding something special for yourself, every purchase helps support independent businesses across Britain.

We work with businesses to bring their ideas to life whether thats for team milestones, client thank you's or guest welcome packs. We love designing bespoke gifts for customers. More on our corporate page.

We're always looking for exceptional independent British makers who share our values.

Every application is personally reviewed, and only businesses that meet our editorial standards are invited to join.

If you'd like to be considered, we'd love to hear your story.

Independent businesses bring character to our towns and communities. They create local jobs, preserve specialist skills and often produce things on a smaller scale with greater care and attention.

Every purchase is a choice about the kind of businesses you want to see thrive. Supporting independent makers doesn't just benefit one company—it helps strengthen Britain's creative and local economies.
