Welcome to The Local. The terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to The Local. We provide our website, products and services to you subject to these Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”). By accessing or using our website (www.local.shop) or placing an order with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.


If you do not agree with these Terms, you should stop using the site immediately.

 

 

1. USING OUR WEBSITE

To use our website or make a purchase, you must be:

  • capable of entering into a legally binding contract.

When creating an account or placing an order, you agree that all information you provide is accurate, current and complete. You are responsible for keeping your account details secure.

 

 

2. OUR PRODUCTS

We work with independent British makers and aim to display products accurately. However:

  • colours and textures may appear differently depending on your device

  • contents of gift boxes may occasionally vary in line with availability

  • all product descriptions and prices are subject to change at any time

We reserve the right to withdraw any product at any time.

 

 

3. PLACING AN ORDER

When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy the product(s). Your order is only accepted once we email you to confirm dispatch.

We may refuse or cancel an order for reasons including (but not limited to):

  • stock unavailability

  • inability to process your payment

  • errors in product information

  • suspected fraud or misuse

If your order is not accepted, we will refund any payment taken.

All purchases must be for personal use and not for resale unless agreed in writing.

 

 

4. PRICES & PAYMENT

Prices shown on our website are in GBP and include VAT where applicable.

They do not include delivery charges, which are shown at checkout.

You agree to provide valid, up-to-date payment details and authorise us to charge the total amount shown at checkout. If payment fails or is reversed after dispatch, you remain responsible for the outstanding amount.

Promotions and discounts may be offered at our discretion and may be withdrawn without notice.

 

 

 

5. DELIVERY

Delivery options and charges are shown at checkout.

We aim to dispatch orders promptly, but delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Delays may occur due to courier issues or circumstances beyond our control.

You become responsible for the goods once they are delivered to the delivery address provided at checkout.

If a parcel is returned to us due to an incorrect address or missed delivery, additional charges may apply for redelivery.

 

 

 

6. RETURNS, REFUNDS & YOUR RIGHT TO CANCEL

 

Your purchase is covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

 

Your 14-day cancellation right

Most items can be cancelled within 14 days of receiving your order, for any reason.

To exercise this right, you must notify us in writing at hello@local.shop.

Items must be returned unused and in their original condition.

 

Exclusions

We cannot accept returns for:

  • perishable food or drink items

  • personalised or handwritten items (e.g., custom notes)

  • boxes where seals or packaging have been broken in a way that prevents resale

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All content on the website — including images, text, logos, graphics, and product descriptions — is owned by The Local or used with permission.

You may use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

You must not copy, reproduce, distribute or modify any content without our written consent.

 

 

8. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which provides the ecommerce platform we use.

Some features or tools may be provided by third parties. Your use of those tools is subject to the terms and policies of those providers.

We are not responsible for the content or accuracy of third-party websites linked from our site.

 

 

9. PRIVACY

We process your personal information in accordance with:

  • our Privacy Policy

  • Shopify’s Privacy Policy

  • UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018

By using our website, you agree to these policies.

 

 

10. FEEDBACK & REVIEWS

If you submit reviews, suggestions, testimonials or feedback:

  • you grant us a licence to use that content for marketing or operational purposes

  • you confirm you have the right to share it

  • you must not submit unlawful, defamatory, or misleading content

We may moderate or remove content at our discretion.

  • for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose

For non-excluded matters, our liability is limited to the price you paid for the products.


We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of revenue, business interruption or data loss.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be published on our website. Continued use of the website after changes are made constitutes acceptance.

 

 

14. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
