IT’S DOWN TO THE LEAF

Rwanda has big hills, volcanic soil, tropical sun, big showers. These are the things that make great tasting tea.

Plus, tea farmers in Rwanda have a formal plucking standard; it’s a serious business. The freshest 2 leaves and a bud. From the top of the bush. Not too big, or too small. Farmers receive premium for plucking tea to this very high standard. And they pluck by hand; hands see better than machines.

What makes it Local

Every product on The Local is chosen for more than just quality — it’s chosen for its story.

We seek out the independent makers, family businesses, and small producers who bring Britain’s regions to life — from hillside vineyards to home studios and coastal kitchens.

Each one shares our commitment to craft, sustainability, and community, proving that local isn’t just a place — it’s a mindset.

When you shop here, you’re helping those makers thrive, supporting real people and the places they love.

This isn’t just gifting — it’s how local thrives.
