From Dorset With Love – Real Ale Chutney
✔ In stock & ready to ship
Rich, malty, and full of West Country character.
A proper handmade chutney cooked low and slow with real ale for deep, savoury flavour.
What stood out immediately with this chutney is its depth — the gentle warmth of slow-cooked apples and onions, lifted by the malty richness of real ale. It has that West Country character we’re always drawn to: familiar, comforting flavours elevated by thoughtful, small-batch craft.
From Dorset With Love make it the traditional way, in modest batches that allow the ingredients to shine. The flavour is balanced and mellow, with a richness that feels genuinely handcrafted and easy to pair with good cheese or cold cuts.
In our Signature and Celebration boxes, it brings a grounded, savoury note that enriches the balance of the collection. A quietly essential jar that makes the whole curation feel thoughtful.
This is chutney the old-fashioned way — cooked gently in small batches, using simple ingredients and a good measure of real ale for depth. From Dorset With Love blends slow-cooked onions, apples, dried fruit, vinegar, and warm spices with a locally brewed ale, creating a chutney that’s rich, rounded, and beautifully balanced.
The ale brings a gentle maltiness that lifts the whole flavour profile, giving you something savoury, tangy, and just sweet enough. It pairs perfectly with mature cheddar, cold meats, sausage rolls, pork pies, or a ploughman’s lunch. Spread it thick in sandwiches or spoon it next to roast leftovers — it’s the kind of chutney you’ll always want in the cupboard.
Made by hand in rural Dorset using traditional methods, this is proper craft preserving — honest, hearty, and packed with flavour.
From Dorset With Love is a true family-run gem. Founded by Chrissy and her family in the rolling Dorset countryside, the business began with a simple idea: make preserves the way they’re meant to be made — by hand, in small batches, using real ingredients grown close to home.
What started at a farmhouse kitchen table has grown into an award-winning range of jams, chutneys, marmalades, relishes, and pickles. Every jar is still cooked the traditional way, stirred lovingly by hand and made using fruit from local growers, seasonal glut, and wild hedgerows.
Their ethos is simple: local ingredients, old-school methods, modern flavour.
It’s preserving as it used to be — and as it still should be.

Excellent
Great items and wonderful presentation. Sent early to avoid disappointment. The team were super accommodating when an extra order of hot sauce was added to avoid a delay. We loved all the products.

These biscuits were delicious and packaged beautifully. Customer service was also excellent, I had a slight problem with delivery dates but Brittany sorted it immediately and made sure we had our biscuits on time for Burns Night. Would definitely recommend, thank again!

Excellent gifting service - highly recommend. For people who are looking for a high quality, curated hamper rather than something full of mass-produced chutneys that will gather dust at the back of your cupboard. The handwritten note adds to the personal touch, and the free delivery was very efficient. Don't give your money to The Man, support The Local!

We were given a hamper from The Local as a present after having a baby and I can honestly tell you it was the best thing.
Incredibly luxurious and full of things that you won't find anywhere else, plus it was delivered in less than 24 hours.
I never normally write reviews, but I love this business and I love this concept and will be a long time customer so thought I would make an exception and show my support.

Best. Hampers. Ever! Seriously, I couldn't recommend these more. I bought two beautiful Christmas hampers for family and they absolutely loved them. All the produce is top quality and I've gone on to buy the coffee and wine for myself. So nice to support a growing local business too 🙏 Thanks for a great service.

The produce from their hamper was incredible. Very high quality produce, delivered on time and packaged beautifully. This was a perfect gift from one of our business partners. We especially enjoyed the local sparkling wine and my wife is in love with the quality of the coffee. If I could give 6 stars, I would! Will be contacting The Local in the new year for some gift ideas for our suppliers.
