PERSPECTIVE

Why we love From Dorset With Love

We love From Dorset With Love because they embody what “local” truly means — family-made products with provenance, pride, and purpose.

There’s a warmth to everything they do. The flavours are bold and beautifully balanced, the recipes are thoughtful, and the quality is unmistakable. Whether it’s a spoonful of raspberry jam on warm toast or a dollop of chilli jam next to dinner, every jar feels like a little celebration of Dorset.

They make food that belongs on the table, not the back of the cupboard.

Meet the founders

Small batch. Big flavour. Zero shortcuts.

From Dorset With Love is built on a commitment to doing things properly:

  • Local sourcing wherever possible — supporting Dorset farmers, growers, and orchards.
  • Traditional cooking methods that protect flavour and texture.
  • No artificial nasties — just fruit, spices, sugar, vinegar, and time.
  • Sustainably minded, using recyclable packaging and responsible production.

It’s simple, honest craft, made with respect for the ingredients and the community around them.

The From Dorset With Love story

From Dorset With Love is a true family-run gem. Founded by Chrissy and her family in the rolling Dorset countryside, the business began with a simple idea: make preserves the way they’re meant to be made — by hand, in small batches, using real ingredients grown close to home.

What started at a farmhouse kitchen table has grown into an award-winning range of jams, chutneys, marmalades, relishes, and pickles. Every jar is still cooked the traditional way, stirred lovingly by hand and made using fruit from local growers, seasonal glut, and wild hedgerows.

Their ethos is simple: local ingredients, old-school methods, modern flavour.

It’s preserving as it used to be — and as it still should be.

How we curate our independent makers
At The Local, every maker we feature has been handpicked — not just for what they make, but how they make it. From the first sketch of a label to the last pour of a bottle, we look for craft, care, and a sense of place that’s unmistakably local. Our curation process champions independent creators who share our principles of quality, sustainability, and community — so when you buy from The Local, you know it’s the real deal.
