PERSPECTIVE

Why we love Into The Green

We chose Into The Green because Abigail’s story is what The Local is all about — independence, imagination, and heart.

Her candles aren’t made in a factory. They’re made on the water — created slowly as she travels her floating workshop through the Wiltshire and Somerset countryside.

Every scent feels alive: infused with nature, movement, and meaning. It’s a truly local craft story — one that drifts, evolves, and glows.

Meet the founders

Abigail's life on a canal boat over the last 14 years has also inspired her brand living closer to nature.

Everything is made on the boat and she travels along the Kennet and Avon selling her candles and soap covering over 20 miles every year.

Slow craft. Small batches. Pure ingredients.

Every Into The Green candle is made to support wellbeing and reconnect you with nature. Abigail sources materials as locally as possible, avoids all synthetic fragrances and additives, and pours each candle herself — a ritual of mindfulness as much as making.

The result is a collection that smells of peace: clean, green, and alive.

The Into The Green story

Into The Green is the creation of Abigail, who lives and works aboard her canal boat on the Kennet & Avon waterway. For over 14 years, she’s travelled more than 20 miles each year, crafting and selling her candles and soaps as she goes.

Her floating studio is powered by simplicity, sustainability, and scent. Surrounded by nature and guided by the rhythm of the canal, Abigail makes each candle in small batches using only aromatherapy-grade essential oils and 100% natural waxes — always pure, always plant-based, always kind.

Her logo — a bee with a flame inside a hexagon — symbolises the everlasting life of the bee and the blossoming of feeling through scent. It’s a quiet reminder to live closer to nature and find joy in the journey.

How we curate our independent makers
At The Local, every maker we feature has been handpicked — not just for what they make, but how they make it. From the first sketch of a label to the last pour of a bottle, we look for craft, care, and a sense of place that’s unmistakably local. Our curation process champions independent creators who share our principles of quality, sustainability, and community — so when you buy from The Local, you know it’s the real deal.
