About Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Nestled among the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, Woodchester Valley Vineyard produces elegant still and sparkling wines that express the unique character of the English countryside. Combining meticulous vineyard management with modern winemaking, every bottle reflects the landscape, climate and craftsmanship that define one of Britain's leading vineyards.

Made in Gloucestershire, England

Stretching from the Cotswold escarpment to the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire has long been shaped by farming, craftsmanship and an enduring connection to the land.

Its limestone soils, rolling valleys and temperate climate now support a flourishing community of vineyards, artisan food producers and independent makers whose products reflect the distinctive character of the county.

"We aim to produce the best quality wines, which have a real sense of time and place, and reflect our unique Cotswolds terrior"

– Fiona Shiner

Meet the people behind Woodchester Valley Vineyard

Fiona is too humble to admit that it took a lot of guts and determination to plant vines in the Cotswolds in the early 2000s. Almost all England’s vineyards were (and still are) concentrated in the southeast of the country and there was very little support available locally. Her belief that the location, aspect and soil were right for vinegrowing has literally borne fruit and now she is producing over 100,000 bottles of still and sparkling wine a year!

The craft of Wine

British wine has undergone a remarkable transformation over the past two decades. Today, independent vineyards across England produce elegant still and sparkling wines that rival some of Europe's finest cool-climate regions.

At The Local, we celebrate vineyards that allow their landscape to shine through every bottle. From limestone slopes to chalk-rich valleys, these wines reflect the places they come from with freshness, balance and authenticity.
